Intersect KC recognizes that addressing immediate needs through The Micah Ministry is just the start. We desire to be a catalyst for empowering change in an individual’s life and the community.  We recognize tremendous barriers that prevent many of our neighbors from reaching their goals, everything from poverty, systemic racism, lack of economic development in the Northeast area, lack of affordable housing, trauma, addictions, and untreated mental illness to simple obstacles like obtaining proper identification.  That is why we invest in building communal power and dignified relationships.

We often have people waiting for an hour before Micah Ministry services begin. We wanted to use that time to help reach three life-enhancing goals:

  1. Create opportunities to get to know our neighbors more deeply and build community.

  2. Honor dignity with life-enhancing experiences and opportunities to be heard.

  3. Provide a comfortable place during the cold, rain, or extreme heat where neighbors could find some comfort and experience some temporary relief.

With these goals in mind, Intersect KC created space for engaging neighbors from 4:30-5:30 pm. Those choosing to stay for the Monday Night Dinner and services are first in line following the Intersect Fruition Program. All are welcome!
